We are a growing collaboration between the educators at Dallas’ community arts and culture institutions and experts in the field of occupational therapy. We partner with Dallas community organizations to promote events for families who have children with autism or sensory challenges.

Tina Fletcher

Texas Woman’s University School of Occupational Therapy

Tina Fletcher is a professor emeritus at the Texas Woman’s University. She has a research doctorate in curriculum design and master’s degrees in figurative sculpture and allied health education. She has over 50 publications on autism, social participation, and creativity in occupational therapy, arts, and museum science journals, and book chapters on creativity, action research, and sensorimotor impairment in children.

Occupational therapy students provide a strong foundation of knowledge, encourage active learning while fostering integrity and compassion. These students help people engage in activities that give their lives meaning. As an occupational therapist, they are a health care provider that asks their clients “what matters to you?” and then designs solutions to help them succeed.

The Dallas Museum of Art (DMA) is an art museum located in the Arts District of downtown Dallas, Texas. The museum collection is made up of more than 24,000 objects, dating from the third millennium BC to the present day. It is also defined by its dynamic exhibition policy and award-winning educational programs. With 159,000 square feet of exhibition space, it is one of the largest art museums in the United States.

Nasher Sculpture Center

The Nasher Sculpture Center is a museum in Dallas, Texas that houses the Patsy and Raymond collection of modern and contemporary sculpture. It is located on a 2.4-acre site adjacent to the Dallas Museum of Art and features rotating exhibitions drawn from the Nasher Collection as well as special exhibitions in its indoor and outdoor galleries.

The Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo is a 106-acre zoo located 3 miles south of downtown Dallas, Texas in Marsalis Park. Established in 1888, it is the oldest and largest zoological park in Texas and is managed by the non-profit Dallas Zoo Management, Inc. The zoo is home to over 2,000 animals representing 406 species.

Dallas Public Library

Since 1901, the Dallas Public Library system has served as the municipal library system of the city of Dallas. The library operates 27 branch locations throughout the city, and an 8-story main branch, the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in downtown. It also operates the Bookmarks Children’s Library located in NorthPark Center. Dallas Public Library strengthens communities by connecting people, inspiring curiosity, advancing lives, and working for racial equity.

Frontiers of Flight Museum

Frontiers of Flight Museum is Texas’ premier aviation and space museum. Founded in 1998 and opened in its new location in 2004, Frontiers of Flight Museum has over 100,000 square feet of exhibit space, including 25 aircraft, 20 interactive displays, educational workshops, and regular presentations from space shuttle astronauts and NASA officials.

FRANCIS Chen

Community Advisor

Francis Chen is a Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) at the Denton County Special Education Cooperative serving 5 rural school districts. LSSPs provide support for students, families, and school staff to provide assessment, consultation, and direct services for students and those who work with them, including students who are neuro-atypical / have autism and other sensory disorders. Francis Chen continues to support programs embracing diversity that makes up our student population and supports activities such as the Denton GOAL, an English Language Learner outreach program. Since 2013, Francis has supported the Dallas Sensory Consortium by informing best practices and volunteering at DMA Sensory Days.
